I am part of a crafts collective The Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen there are around 70 members who all make wonderful handcrafted objects. As makers photographing your work can be difficult, especially in a home or lifestyle setting. This photoshoot was designed to show off the makers work in a more natural or home like setting.

The photograph above is one of my favourites, Liz’s wonderful table cloth really sets the scene of a warm country house setting up for friends coming over for tea and a chat.

When styling this shoot I wanted to show the quality of the work off and in a aspirational way. I envisioned what I would like to have on my dressing room table or how a corner of my living room might look.

I wanted it to be luxurious but achieveable, showing how you might set up your table for an afternoon tea. I used pieces from all the makers to not only showcase the range of work but also to show how differnt peices can sit harmoniously together.

I contacted local photographers Article Studio in Stroud. Lenny did a fabulous job, while I styled each shot Lenny worked his magic to make the photographs really sing. His professional know how was key to making these photographs work so well. After I had set each shot up Lenny knew just the right angle that the pieces should be at.

I wanted a homely, warm, natural feeling to the photographs and Lenny got it just right, you wouldn’t guess that there isn’t a window in the room at all!

Lenny sent me photographs in both Low and High resolution, this was so that the makers could zoom in on there products and have close ups of there work.

With over 20 makers work to photograph I wanted to make sure that I got a good variety of peoples work in the shoot as well as setting a scene.

Kristian Pettifor’s fantastic chair really brought the whole photoshoot together and created a central focus point to the photographs.

Dressing the different photos was an absolute joy with such amazing items to choose from. I want everything, and that is the purpose!
